Many of us are now able to get outside and enjoy the great British summer now that lockdown has eased. These suggestions allow you to stay safe and socially distance. However, they may require pre-booking given the current restrictions. In addition to this, parking and toilets may be limited, or unavailable, so please plan ahead.

  1. Lavender season runs from late June to late July and the lavender fields near Shoreham are an incredible sight. The Hop Shop at Castle Farm will be open for drive through orders, or you can bring your own picnic and book a spot to enjoy it at a safe distance from others.
  2. Later in the summer (late July and August), you may be lucky enough to spot baby foals at Knole Park.
    If you do visit Knole, please don’t feed or touch the deer (you can find out why here).
  3. Visit Herne Bay which has some of the cutest colourful beach huts in the country and enjoy a bracing stroll along the sea-front.
  4. Mr Mulligan’s dino golf in Tonbridge is open with social distancing measures in place. Book online before you go.
  5. Bewl Water is open for scenic walking and cycling, plus the coffee shop is in operation.
  6. Beautiful Riverhill Himalayan Gardens are open (timed, pre-booked tickets only), with a one-way system in place and yeti-spotting on weekends.
  7. Take a one-way stroll and enjoy virtual keeper talks around Hemsley Conservation Centre.
  8. Have a picnic, or grab a delicious takeaway pizza from The Mount Vinyard.
  9. Pick your own strawberries, raspberries and more at Lower Ladysden Farm.
  10. Visit Walmer castle and gardens, which includes a natural play trail with sculptures of woodland birds.
