Let’s explore some pretty spring decor ideas to freshen up your home.
We’ll consider colour, scent and (of course!) decluttering…
Spring Decor Ideas
Cleaning & decluttering
Spring always brings with it the impetus to clean. We’re suddenly motivated to clear out the clutter and throw ourselves into the business of life laundry.
Decluttering has many benefits, including making you happier and making your home feel more spacious.
It can seem an overwhelming task, so start with just one area. We suggest either reorganising your kitchen or clearing your wardrobe clutter. Deep clean each area as you declutter, but be warned, this process is addictive!
Pastels
Fresh, soft and pretty, pastel colours are perfect for Spring. These pale hues create a calmer, more peaceful space.
Take inspiration from these gorgeous shelves and accessories from Caitlin Wilson Design and add a few pastel cushions, a peach coloured vase, or some blush books.
Spring scents
Spring is new life and optimism. It’s warmer, longer days and fresh-cut grass. It’s daffodils, bluebells, tulips and peonies.
Above all, spring is fresh air, birdsong and butterflies. So throw open your windows and give your home a good airing.
Bring fresh flowers into your home and choose cleaning products and candles with fresh floral scents.
Embrace green
From neo-mint or pistachio to fern, emerald or basil, green symbolises nature, energy and fertility. It’s, therefore, a great way to add a touch of spring to your home.
Include indoor plants or sage coloured soft furnishings. If you’re feeling bold, you might even decorate with botanical wallpaper or paint your door frame a dark racing green.
Spring decor ideas (make one change)
If revamping an entire room seems too much (and let’s face it, we’re all pretty busy right now), how about making just one change to your space that will make it feel more in keeping with the season?
Try one of the following.
- Change your lounge curtains from heavy fabrics to sheer, floaty ones
- If you have a tired wooden floor, take up any thick rugs or old carpet and whitewash it instead
- Add an indoor swing or hammock to chill out in
- Switch your bed linens to lighter fabrics and colours
- Add a mini herb garden to your kitchen
